First Grade News!
We're into our 3rd month of school already. Time flies when the children are at school.
Reading and Writing
Please practice the words that come home in the homework packet. The children need to recognize the words and be able to write each one. These are the same ones we are learning in class . Please read with your child each night.
The children should be able to write a complete sentence beginning with a capital letter and ending with a period. We are working on the writing process for the children to be able to write 3 sentences all on one topic. They also need to be sure to always capitalize the word "I."
It would help to ask your young ones to write neatly whenever they have writing to do for homework. I am noticing a need to practice making letters neatly.
Math
Practice counting by 5s beginning at another number such as 25..then 30, 35 and so on.
Content
In Science we are beginning a unit on the seasons. We just finished the Social Studies unit on famous people.
Other
We will be doing a little bit on languages throughout this school year. If anyone would like to come in to read to the students, please drop me an email and we will work out a time for you to do it.
